Got the surprise in 2010 with "Crazy For You" which led to conquer garage rock enthusiasts and lo-fi. Today, a couple of years later, the singer Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno multifaceted join forces again in "The Only Place", the second LP will be released on May 14 and will end up defining whether the phenomenon of "Best Coast "was one day flower.
For this occasion the duo Angeleno has had the collaboration of Jon Brion, renowned producer who has worked on notable albums of the caliber of "Whatever" by Aimee Mann or "When The Pawn ..." from the always intriguing Fiona Apple. According to Cosentino's own words "The Only Place" is an album that shows the process of maturity that has lived in California the last two or three years. "Crazy For You was an album written in a very insecure, weird phase of my life. Had 22 years by then and even today I am very proud of these issues. Now I have 25 years, and things in my life have changed greatly, greatly in recent years. The songs are largely about what I experienced in the past two years and how everything has changed. "
As you read these statements one may think that everything will have a happy look on this record. Nothing is further from the truth: while the forms (the melody) are really dynamic, the letter of the topics will be characterized by being downright sad. Understanding this new concept we can understand Cosentino when he says that "The Only Place" will be a record "emo". Perhaps some of you will be disappointed (and in a way we can understand) but we vibrate to hear it. And more to know that the second work of Beth and Bob re-recorded versions will have some issues that we had heard as 'How They Want Me to Be' (attached below), 'Up All Night' or 'Dreaming My Life Away' .
New album, recent tour of the UK, new energy ... Best Coast Now it just needs a drummer to help them replace the expelled Ari Koehler of Vivian Girls. At least we should expect that he / the newest member of the band can outlast the former Vivian Girl. Go genius should spend the two biggest indie pop masterminds of Los Angeles!
